Hammocks

Hammocks are one of the best known examples of netting.

The following sources all have hammock instructions. The patterns are varied, but all are net hammocks.

Equipment mesh stick: 2"
two 2" hammock rings (can order through Jann's Netcraft)
about 760 feet cord that is made to hold several hundred pounds
 
 
 
 
 
Row 1 mesh stick: 2" 11 knots in round

In 2" hammock ring net 11 loops (hammock ring takes the place of the foundation loop).

 
Row 2 mesh stick: 2" 12 knots in round

Net 1 knot in each loop for 5 loops, net 2 knots in next loop, net 1 knot in 5 loops.

 
Row 3 mesh stick: 2" 14 knots in round

Net 1 knot in each loop for 4 loops, net 2 knots in next loop, net 1 knot in next loop, net 2 knots in next loop, net 1 knot in each loop for 5 loops.

 
Row 4 mesh stick: 2" 16 knots in round

Net 1 knot in each loop for 4 loops, net 2 knots in next loop, net 1 knot in each loop for 4 loops, net 2 knots in next loop, net 1 knot in each loop for 4 loops.

 
Row 5 mesh stick: 2" 18 knots in round

Net 1 knot in each loop for 3 loops, net 2 knots in next loop, net 1 knot in each loop for 7 loops, net 2 knots in next loop, net 1 knot in each loop for 4 loops.

 
Row 6 mesh stick: 2" 20 knots in round

Net 1 knot in each loop for 3 loops, net 2 knots in next loop, net 1 knot in each loop for 10 loops, net 2 knots in next loop, net 1 knot in each loop for 3 loops.

 
Rows 7-50 (or as long as you desire) mesh stick: 2" 20 knots in round

Net 1 knot in each loop.

 
Decrease Row 1 mesh stick: 2" 18 knots in round

Net 1 knot in each loop for 2 loops, net 2 loops together, net 1 knot in each loop for 12 loops, net 2 loops together, net 1 knot in each loop for 2 loops.

 
Decrease Row 2 mesh stick: 2" 16 knots in round

Net 1 knot in each loop for 3 loops, net 2 loops together, net 1 knot in each loop for 8 loops, net 2 loops together, net 1 knot in each loop for 3 loops.

 
Decrease Row 3 mesh stick: 2" 14 knots in round

Net 1 knot in each loop for 4 loops, net 2 loops together, net 1 knot in each loop for 4 loops, net 2 loops together, net 1 knot in each loop for 4 loops.

 
Decrease Row 4 mesh stick: 2" 12 knots in round

Net 1 knot in each loop for 5 loops, net 2 loops together, net 2 loops together, net 1 knot in each loop for 5 loops.

 
Decrease Row 5 mesh stick: 2" 12 knots in round

Net 1 knot in each loop.

 
Decrease Row 6 mesh stick: 2" 11 knots in round

Net 1 knot in each loop for 5 loops, net 2 loops together, net 1 knot in each loop for 5 loops.

 
Decrease Row 7 Mesh stick: other 2" hammock ring 11 knots in round

Net 1 knot in each loop using the other 2" hammock ring as the mesh stick.
